Zero Breeze Mark 2 works like a car air conditioner, but we have made a lot of improvements in terms of structure, size, power supply, noise reduction, and portability, so that it can cool you in a small cabin on a boat.
When using it on a boat, we need to consider the size of the space to be cooled, the sun exposure, whether there are windows or doors to mount the venting hose, drainage problem, and power supply.
Ā 1) The size of the space to be cooled
The ideal cooling area for Zero Breeze Mark 2 is 25~40 sq ft. If the space is larger than that, although the cooling effect of the whole space is not obvious, you can also feel comfortable at location closer to the air conditioner, especially near the cold air vent. The cool air can be breezed as far as 2m distance when it works at the highest speed.Ā
You may also use two or more Mark 2 to work simultaneously, depending on the size of your space size and your personal cooling needs.
2) Sun exposure
We know that under the average sun exposure, the temperature in the cabin will rise, because the heat generated by sunlight is 283.6 BTU/sq ft, and the area of 25 sq ft is about 7090 BTU, which will far exceed Zero Breeze Mark 2 capability of 2300 BTU. Thatās why the average cooling capacity of a car air conditioner is far more than 10,000 BTU/h.
If the insulation of the cabin is very good, or itās at night, the situation will be much better. As there is no external source of heat, Zero Breeze Mark 2 will be a perfect cooling option for sleeping all the night.
3) Venting hoses
Zero Breeze Mark 2 uses dual hose venting heat system. One hose takes in fresh air, and then the air passes through the condenser and takes its heat away through another hose. When you know how it works, you will understand what you need to do with the two hoses. The best way to cool down a space is to connect the two hoses and separate them slightly out of the window or outside the door.
You may need some DIY when installing the hose, and we will also provide some accessories.
It should be noted that the air brought in by one of the hose passes through the condenser and then goes out of the machine through another hose. There is no fresh air brought into the cabin by the machine. Therefore, when you are resting in the cabine, please do not keep the space completely sealed.
4) Drainage problem
Zero Breeze Mark 2, like a traditional air conditioner, turns the gaseous water in the air into liquid. It uses gravity to collect and drain the generated water. The inside space can store condensed water for about 1-2 hours, depending on the humidity. You may raise the Mark 2 backwards to drain water to somewhere when itās full.
You can also connect the water pipe comes with unit to drain the water to a collector/bottle or directly to the ground.Ā
It should be noted that when the boat is waving, the water may leak from the front or the side. It is recommended to raise the front of the air conditioner slightly when using it, and fix it well to prevent rollover. However, you don't have to worry too much about the product being damaged, because the internal circuit is processed to be waterproof for a short while.
5) Power supply
Zero Breeze Mark 2 supports the use of 24v battery or power adapter to access 110-240V power supply. Itās maximum power is about 210W, and the corresponding maximum current is about 9A. We know you may want to power the air conditioner directly through your own battery. But you need to find out if your battery outputs 24V and can provide enough power (210W). If your battery outputs 12V, you need a 12V to 24V converter. Considering the conversion efficiency of the converter, at least 250W power (close to 21A peak current) is required from your battery. If your battery canāt provide such power, it is not recommended to use it to power the Mark 2 as this may damage your battery.Ā
If you have a 110V-240V inverter power system which has more than 250W power, you can use the adapter comes with Mark 2 to make the air conditioner work. If not, it is recommended to use the Zero Breeze Mark 2 battery to power the air conditioner. It normally can work for 3-5 hours in cool mode (more than 5 hours in sleep mode).Ā
It should be NOTED that Mark 2 battery does not support working while charging. If you want to power the machine while charging the battery, you need to buy an extra battery and an extra power adapter.
